Trying to run a G Major in stereo through a Mark IV (head and Rectifier 2x12 cab). I also have a Lonestar combo. Can I run the G Major through the effects loop of the Mark IV then run the second output of the G Major into the return of the Lonestar, essentially using the LSC's preamp? Is this a reasonable setup to run stereo? Any other options, without buying another head or preamp?

Thanks in advance!

Yep, that's how you do it 8)

Also, if you wanna experiment, you could run either of those amps' pre-amp out (IE: their loop send) to the other amp's pre-amp in (IE: it's loop return). This will allow you to source the pre-amp of one amp into the power amp of the other amp. So let's say you wanna see what the LSC pre-amp sounds like running through the MKIV power amp... plug a cable in from the LSC loop send to the MKIV loop return, set the LSC loop send volume to 12 o'clock or unity gain, which means no gain is added or subtracted by the loop circuitry. Turn both on, turn both loops on. Now, only your LSC's channel volumes will work (the pre-amp volumes), and only your MKIV's master output knob will work.

Give it a shot!

I assume if I set up the way I posted, the lonestar power amp will color the tone a bit differently through that amp. Might sound pretty good in combination.

Yep, my guess is that after you set it up like that, you will have a hard time playing any other way

I run my Mark IV and Road King in stereo sometimes and the tone is just heavenly, can't put my guitar down.
