I've got a Mark V on the way and can't wait to dive in to the tones. One of the tones I haven't heard on a sound or video clip yet is a slightly dirty rythmn tone. I hate to use it, but the Stevie Ray slight breakup sound. You can strum an open G chord and tell it's distorted but yet you can hear all the notes of the chord. Is that possible with Ch. 2?

You can get a nice vintage blues breakup on Channel 1 AND Channel 2.

Tweed on Channel 1 can be dialed in to give you some great edge of breakup. Keep the gain around the middle and dial in some bass and play with the eq/contour.

Edge and Crunch on Channel 2 can also be used for this. You will have to dial DOWN the gain because those modes are capable of going up to Vah Halen-esque dirt.

The modes in Channel 3 are pretty much only good for metal and lead work. Not that that's a bad thing considering they are some of the best high gain tones I have ever heard.

This forum is a wealth of information but you have to dig to get it. These guys are not the most talkative bunch.

One idea: dial in a medium level of overdrive. Now, back off the guitar's volume control until the sound cleans up. Hey, guess what? There it is - the edge of breakup. Pick harder and it goes over the edge. :D

I am using a Fulltone OCD overdive on the Fat Clean Channel for that sound. It becomes a fourth channel.

This is another great option (assuming you like getting your dirt from pedals).
