Hi Guys,

I've pretty much decided that I want to buy an Electra Dyne amp. Now the next question is do I go for the Combo as in 112 or 212 or do I go all the way and get the head and cabinet?

Any advice? By the way, I've never owned a head & cabinet version or any amp before so I'm not sure what to expect except the wife yelling at me that it takes up too much room!

What do you guys think?

Combo = HEAVY. Head and cab are manageable. An ED head on top of a 3/4 back cab would not take up much more room than a combo. I use an EV loaded 3/4 back with my Mark V and LOVE it.

(old picture by the way... my pedals are now on a pedalboard. :))

i have a similar setup to musicmanjp6. i have a 3/4 back cab with a celestion black shadow (awesome speaker by the way) and a ED head, Mark V head, F-50 head. it's nice cause i can just swap heads, saves a lot of space (rather than having 3 different combos). ill be getting rid of the V and f-50 soon though. the ED covers everything for me. if i were doing it all over i would have just got an ED combo. the main reason is because i just dont like the way the head looks. the combo looks so classy. so if your gonna be gigging or moving a lot, you might go separate. but if not, the combo is the way to go. i want to get another ED combo later down the road to set up for a clean sound with 6l6's and have the head loaded with el34's for the crunch side of things

Ahhh,

If guitar gear were women, this is what porn would look like!

Anyone A/B an ED 2x12 combo (or 1x12 combo for that matter) and an ED head w/ a 3/4 back cab?

Im wondering if there is any difference in tone.

Im considering an ED but I do not want another combo! I have not had a chance to demo the head.

That review makes it sound like the 1x12 combo and a head w/ 1x12 cab would be just about identical. Good to know. I wish Mesa would put those ED cabs on their web page so I can get a better look. Of course the reality is that I'm a ways away from buying a new amp. But it's nice to dream.
