I guess that depends on if you need the extra 50 watts from the Triple. Both are good deals if they're in good shape like you say.

I prefer the triple because of the clean headroom. But, it is kind of nice to have a dual if you are using it in smaller venues/at home because you can take out 2 power tubes and a Recto tube and it becomes a 50 watt head. As for sounds, they are similar, but the triple is said to be a hair "darker" in tone. I just like having the extra power of the Triple when i need it.

I would go for the triple for only a $50 difference, the resale on it's higher than the DR so if you end up not liking it, you can get enough to buy a DR with it and you'll still have a cab.

Either way, you could always buy both then sell them off separate. I'm sure you could make a few $$$.

The triple will be an extra $30-$40 to retube. They both sound like a decent price.


Duals and triples sell for close to the same and sometimes duals sell for more it just depends on the market. I personally would want the dual. You can use the $50 for some good cables.

I would go with the Dual. It costs more to retube a triple, the extra volume that you would get with a triple is not as much as you would think.

I would say the Dual because watts doesn't necessarily mean volume. It's a very minimal difference and 150 watts seems just too much for me.

I'm going to buy a single rectifier halfstack with rectifier 412 cab 3 years old average condition for $1,500 CND (you don't see many around here used) but a 3 channel head would be awesome and cheaper.......
