If the FX loop of the amp works with other equipment, it should be good to go. The HD500 has its own FX loop? if so, that will not work if it is a series connection. I am assuming that the FX loop on the HD500 is for adding other pedals. In essence that will not work with the FX loop of the amp.

The beauty of the HD500's FX loop is that it will allow you to use the 4 cable method, essentially putting the Dual Recto's preamp in the HD500's FX loop.

You'll need to make sure that the HD500 is set up properly for this.
