I recently purchased a 3ch Dual Rectifier. Before this, I was using a POD X3 Live for my amp modeling and effects. I was hoping that when I got my Dual Rec, I could just use the Pod for effects and bypass the amp modeling. But when I hook it up to the amp, it sounds like crap and there's a bad hissing sound. Am I doing something wrong? Should I plug the Pod in the front or in the fx loop? Help would be appreciated :)

I think your amp may ave a parallel effects loop. Check to see if you do. If it does have a parallel loop than your pod won't sound very good. Try putting it in front of the amp and see what happens.

Yes your amp does indeed have a parallel loop. You will need to modify the loop to serial for your POD to work in the loop.

I tried it through the front, bypassing everything and it didn't sound good, really digital sounding and took away a lot of depth from the amp. I haven't even tried it through the loop yet cause I first wanted to try to boost my amp using a tube screamer effect. Would my delays and other time-based effects still sound bad through the loop? What do you recommend I do? And could someone post something about how to mod the loop to serial?

Loop Mod: http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=36840&start=0&hilit=serial+mod

And be sure to turn off all of the amp/cab modeling in your POD. Probably a huge reason it sounds like garbage.

I had amp modeling turned off when I was using it. I'm definitely not comfortable with ripping my amp apart, so I don't think I'll be doing the loop mod. Is there anything else I can do like get a different multi-effects board or something? Or would it be better if I went the individual pedals route (if I could afford it)?

About a different effects unit: my Line6 M13 does the trick.

With the loop engaged and the M13 in there, the amp loses a bit of its touch-sensitivity and hugeness, but all in all it is not too bad, and the effects are great.
Check the other products in the M-range if you want something smaller/cheaper.

I've done a little research and the M13 does seem to suit my needs and price range, although I've heard its OD/Distortions aren't that great so I'm thinking, once I have the cash, getting the M13 for effects and a separate OD (I'm leaning towards the Maxon 808) to boost my amp. How does that sound? Anyone else have experience with the M13 with a Dual Rec?
