In the quest for a DR head that has a cloth panel and the vent grill like the RK, we've been told from Mesa that it can't be done. Musicbox suggested that the Stilletto head is the same size as the DR and has a vent grill and the panel should be easier to strip and refinish than the DR plate. I noticed on the Mesa site they have a custom Stilletto with a non-Croco front and a grill. I called Mesa yesterday to see what was possible and it turns out that yes, a DR will fit in a Stilletto shell and yes, you can get it with a black cloth panel and vent grill and no Stilletto piping! I ordered one - $298 + S&H, 4-6 weeks. Great suggestion musicbox - I owe you pics when it shows up!
FYI - I talked to Kris Dilbeck (he actually called me back twice!), the new shell comes with a handle and feet, and make sure you ask to have the DR tube-location-plate-thingy that's inside the head put on.
