I just got in the set of preamp tubes that I ordered from Dougs Tubes today. I have the Tremoverb head so with his advice I went with a Tung-Sol reissue 12AX7 in V1, a Sovtek 12AX7LPS in V2, and Shuguang C9's in V3, V4, V5, & V6. All I can say is WOW!! What a difference that made. Tons of bite but warmer sounding and it just sounds alot smoother and more balanced. The amp sounds better than ever and I highly recommend this combination. I'm running Groove Tube 6L6 GE's in the power section and I just ordered a set of GZ34's to replace my 5U4G's. Can't wait to check those out. From what I've read here they tighten up the sag and provide a little more gain. I wish I would have bought a Recto a long time ago cuz these amps kill!!
