Here's a Video of the 5:25 And to my ears it has really nice , clear , singing Overdrive.

Is the 5:25 more clear on the gain than 5:50 ?

The actual MESA demo is not dialed in this well IMO

Especially on Burn Channel he gets into nice smooth EJ territory with Clarity.

Is the 5:25 better at the Hendrix, Gilmour, Blackmore, EJ type ODs than the 5:50 or just a matter of dialing in ?

ahh no not imo.
I much prefer the 5:50 to the 5:25 thru the whole tone range.
The 2 amps sound different due to different tubes, different speakers, different cabinet sizes, different wattage levels'
Test em both out and you'll understand

Seems pretty representative to me. My 5:50 can cop those tones, but I do think at lower volumes, the 5:25 gets closer to the Hendrix and Gilmour tones than the 5:50. The 5:50, again, in my experience, needs to breathe a bit more to get those types of dynamic, punchy tones. Gilmour is easier because you can cover it with pedals over a clean base, but even there, I think the clean tone needs some volume behind it to get it to sing like his tone.

Both of them need some volume to really get pretty, but with double the wattage, the 5:50 has more headroom, and therefore takes a bit longer on the volume dial to get to an optimal level. Seems odd to say that, because neither of them sound particularly good with the master being pushed -- I keep the master volume below 10:30 or so all the time on both of them. But the 5:50 is significantly louder to my ears to get to its optimal tone than the 5:25.

I have the 1x10 5:25 and the 1x12 5:50. The 5:50 also has JJ tubes and an Eminence Private Jack speaker, so it's a significantly different amp than the completely stock 5:25. The 5:50 can get the tones you're after, but you have to turn it up a bit. That's my experience, anyway.
