Does a Triple sound good at lower volumes?

I have someone locally wanting to trade a Triple for my Koch, and I was wondering if it sounds good at lower in home volumes? I wasn't looking to get one, but no one is even making offers on my Koch, and I wanted to get a Roadster, if I could sell it. The triple is a 3 channel, not reborn multiwatt.

Do you have an opportunity to test drive it first? That would be the best way to find out for yourself. There are just too many other variables - When it comes to "good" define "good." "Lower volume" - How low is low? At what gain levels/how much OD are you talking about - fully saturated, crunchy, pristine, virginal cleans?

My Mini Rec sounds "OK," maybe "good" at lower volumes, but it doesn't sound REALLY GOOD until the master is up to noon or beyond. That's been my experience with any tube amp I've ever had or played through. Some sound better than others at "lower" volumes, but they all have a "sweet spot" that usually occurs at levels where there's some juice flowing into the power section, regardless of how much if any gain/OD I'm trying to get.

I may have the chance to test drive it first, not sure yet, he is some distance from me and we may have to meet somewhere between.

I'm just trying to make sure that I can get a good metal sound not cleans, good nice crunchy sound at lower volumes, I know most of that is in the preamp anyway, so master volume shouldn't have too much impact, but it does play into the overall tone that you get. I know some Marshalls sound tinny and ice picky at lower volumes, but with the same settings at more gig level they sound great. I would like to be able to play this without gigging levels of volume and still sound like a Recto and give me that good crunchy metal sound.

I can get decent tones out of mine but it is hard to say what is "low" volume. It probably won't sound great at volume levels where someone can sleep in the next room. But at moderate volumes, still below gigging volume it sounds good.

That's pretty much the level I'm probably talking about. I know my DSL 100 and my Multitone both can sound pretty good at lower volumes.

For low level playing with my Dual, I use a 1 x 12. I got one of the RA 27" 1 x 12 cabs for my Electra Dyne and it happens to take to the recto as well and it can be used from loud-ish practice amp levels (c.a. 85db) to jamming / rehearsal levels if necessary. For big stuff, a 2 x 12 or 4 x 12 is obviously better.

I thought about getting a 1x12 but need to have about 100w speaker in it, so I will look at those.
I have the 2x12 that is being built, but that can get loud I know, and the 4x12 that I have is going to push a lot of air.

The 27" RA 1 x 12 has a 90watt c90 in it. You'd be surprised how little power we actually use with our guitar heads, especially when practicing. At 85db, you're using under 0.1watts and at around 95 - 97db in a mid sized room, you're only using approx 1 watt. I think a 60 watt speaker is probably fine for a 1 x 12 devoted entirely to practicing and low volume jams. For the bigger jobs, a 2 x 12 or 4 x 12 is the appropriate tool and the 1 x 12 can sit it out.

FYI--Space Tone music has a used one, go try it out, it's local.

Sounds good. Thanks

Mine never sounded good at lower volumes. Reborn multi watt triple rectifier.

It can if you EQ it right:

Fully cut the treble off, max the mids, bass around 10-11:00 and max the presence.
