Hello!
I have chance to buy old 1977 Mark I - amplifier. I saw amp guts and become confused.
There is only 3 x 12ax7 and 4x 6L6 - tubes. Amp have 60/100 witch, variable voltage selector and graphic eq ( no reverb). Amp looks very nicely (re-capped) inside and have Randall Smith initials.

Chassis have still two holes where usually are two another preamp - tubes.
Is this (3 x 12ax7) common version or maybe modded(ruined) on someway?

Amp is serviced and plays well but I cannot test it before buying.
Originally it have been combo with 15" speaker. Now it is head-version.

I am very happy, if somebody know more about older mark I - versions.

A 100w Mark 1 without reverb will only have 3 x 12ax7's.

Thank you for a help.

Is there any tonally differences vs. 4-5 preamp-tube versions?
Probaply now 1-2 tubes produce gainstages and third tube is driver?
