I used the search function, no luck.

Can I use different types of 6L6s for the outer tubes on a mkIV? Ive used el34s in those sockets, but can I mix Mesa 6l6 str 440s and 6L6 jjs?

In a word... Yes!

They just have to be matched, the outer two.

Mick

But if he's running different types/brands, wouldn't that obviously mean that they're not specifically matched for each other?

The outer two have to be matched and the inner two have to be matched, but the outer two don't have to be matched with the inner two.

The bias supply of a Mesa simulclass amp is such that it is split off between the outer pair and the inner pair. So as mentioned, the inner pair doesn't have to closely match the outer pair. But both pairs shouldn't exceed the specs of the amp.
