Hey All, did the reeder mod,
so far im digging it, although i thought i buggered something up, i marked the wires with the sharpie 1-2-3
me being the dumbass I am wired the gain pot back 2-1-3 haha thought the amp was buggered up.
anyway, Im liking what it has done so far, the normal/thick/thicker switch is much more prominant. I am hooked on the thick mode right now- gives my tele some beef.

Cool, it's been a while since somebody has done the mod around here. I love the sound of ch 2 after the mod. There's a second reeder mod that further enhances ch 2.

There is?
Cool bring it on, my soldering iron is still hot, maybe this time i'll grab the right end! hahah
My next step was to look at the speakers, i was going to try a pair of red fang 10's and a pair of lil buddy hemp cone emience, but i would like to see with this other mod is?

You add a jumper wire across a couple lugs on the mid pot. Very easy to do and it helps clean up some of the low mid muddiness. I did both mods and I'm not going back!

Ok boys, here's the original "Reeder mod II" post. http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=27487

Btw. I prefer it on ch2 only. On ch 1 it robbed it of some of that fat mojo the LSC is famous for. But it helped ch 2 with some of the remaining mud even after the 1st mod, IMO.

Hey Plan-X. Hmmm. You got me thinking there. I might as well try this second mod out!

If you don't like it, it is very easy and quick to reverse it.

Hi Guys:

Haven't posted in a while but thought I needed to share this. Just wanted to add a pertinent bit of info about Mod-2. Even though many folks have done it with just a simple strand of wire with no problems...I encountered some hum (which sounded like a ground loop) when I used pieces long enough to test-out a switch for the mod.

So...just to be on the 'safe side ' and avoid hum...use an insulated wire WITH a braided ground shield...such as hifi wire or a guitar cable. Attach one end of the ground wire (only one end) to the chassis as a ground. Use the center or positive lead wire to make the actual 'jump' between the 2 posts of the mid pot. Make absolutely sure that the ground wire and the positive (jump wire) do not touch, as that will make your amp's sound become mucho zero (as the signal will all go to ground).

One end of the braided ground wire can be twisted and wrapped around the threaded part of the mid pot befor re-installing to make a good ground connection. Or you can simply solder the braid to the pot itself. But do that only if you feel secure enough not to over-heat the pot and cause damage to it.

Viva Lonestar! Charles

Hey Charles, Viva Lonestar Haha. You could also just use 2 insulated wires? One for the ground(chassis-pot) and one for the jump?

plan-x. Yeah that't probably work fine.

drunkdolphin. for those short jumps almost everyone has had no problems. I include the mention of the braided ground wire as a fix if anyone encounters hum problems. I did on (ONE) of my Lonestars...because I used long wire sections in order to experiment with switching. The braided ground wire eliminated the ground hum which the longer pieces caused. If anyone has any hum problems...(short or long wire) Ithen try the braided ground wire fix.

Gotta go! Charles
