I am new to the forum but an old Mesa player. While playing with the band last weekend I noticed the first power tube on my DC3 was running much, much hoter than the other three. When I pulled the tube to look at it, the paint from the JJ turbe was burnt while the other three looked good. I cleaned the tube sockets and replaced all four tubes and the new tube got as hot as the old tube while the others operated normally. The Amp sounded great the entire time and sounded even better ( cleaner) with the new tubes. Should I take my DC3 to the shop or is the first tube burning very hot normal for a DC3?
