Does anyone know if the DC volume mod works on all DC variants? I have a Studio Caliber and would like to give it a shot.

Well I did the mod. 
I have the one where the resistor is on the PCB so I de-soldered the one leg away from the wire. The volume taper is much better! It's not an on-off switch at 2 any more. I did notice that 0 on the volume actually has a little sound now. It doesn't complete shut the volume to nothing. Maybe the 220k resistor was there to do that? Either way, it's much more useful now.
