DC-3 problem...little help please.

My DC-3 combo has developed a squeal/hiss that is intermittent. I found today that if I tapped on the reverb tank I could get it to go away and sometimes if I toggle the standby switch it will stop. Should I try to replace the preamp tube for the reverb 1st? Has anyone had this problem? Help??
