First Post! Let me start by saying that I love my DC-10 dearly. However, lately I've been looking for a modded-Marshall type sound, and can't seem to find it. Anyone out there with a DC amp, have you found any eq settings, tube combinations, different speakers, or OD boxes that let you get a good modded-Marshall type sound out of your amp?

Also, I'm getting ready to re-tube, and just wanted to know what you guys recommend for the DC's.

I have a Nomad 100, which is similar. I can get great high gain Marshall-esque tones with this amp by using a HomeBrew Electronics Big D distortion pedal.

The 2 amps are very different animals. I too have been thinking about going with a more high gain marshall sound. I was thinking about having my dc-10 modded to be able to use EL34s to see how it would sound. I love my dc-10, the tone I get from it is unbeatable!
So I know how you feel. I am just debating buying a modded marshall like http://www.splawnguitars.com/ampmod.htm. These amps scream!
I'd be interested in what you go with to get your marshall tone. post when you do make a decision.

Here is your best bet for a souped up Marshall. I played one of these for manyyears, it won't let you down.

The "Frequency" knob adjusts the overall Midrange of the amp. You can dial in anything from Boston to Slayer with this amp.

The Clean channel is modelled after a Fender Twin, but will break up very nicely with the right settings.

I know it's not a Mesa, but it's built with the same spirit.
