Dating a dual rec

Hey everyone.

I have an opportunity to buy a dual rec 2 channel in the 650's. What should I ask for to verify its legit, and made like the pre-500's? (trans, etc)

Also, in your opinions would it be worth getting, or should I hold out for the pre-500?

I have another two channel that I am attached too, that is obviously not a pre-500.

You might get more responses if you post this in the modern section. But, I would ask to see a picture of the serial number and the numbers on the trannies. A serial number in the 600's is going to be a revision F, which only differs from the Pre500's in terms of the circuit board. I think if you have your heart set on a Pre500, then you should wait it out and get one...especially since you already have a 2 channel that you are happy with. If you want to get a little closer to the pre500 sound, go with the RevF that your looking at. goodluck!
