Into Mesa amps. I've been reading up on the Mesa Triple (or dual) and the Mesa Stiletto Trident. Mind you I've read a lot of the bulletins on the board about each amp but still haven't read what I'm trying to gather about the amps.

Whats a reasonable (average) price for dual (three channels or two channels), triple rec, and trident stilettos?
I got offered a Trident for $1,000 from a buddy, great condition nearly a year old.

Do the Tridents have a solid crunch channel on them? And if you'd give me the pro's and con's of the amp you own above. Thanks.

I'm into heavier music. i.e The Hope Conspiracy, Suicide File, American Nightmare, Bars, a lot of Boston hardcore, and punk.

Thousand bucks is a pretty good price for a Trident, and Yes, you will have more gain and crunch and power than you will ever need. The only "Con" you will have is when it comes time to re-tube. It is expensive, but on the bright side, Boogie tubes are kind of "Middle of the Road" Price wise. Another "Con" is having a 150 watt amp that you will never get to open up in a small club. But aside from that, you shouldn't have any problems.
Try the thing out and see if you like it.

I dunno... personally (and keep in mind this is just one person's opinion) I think anything over 50 watts is unneccesary for *most* situations and anything over 100 is just plain retarded unless you are playing metal in a stadium. AND you are going to pay out the a$$ if you need to re-tube that sucker.

What kind of venues are you going to be playing?

And do you de-tune a lot? Lower than drop D?

My Deuce stays in 50 watt mode all the time... I like the break up better. 100 watt gives you a little more bottom end. Just more choices. 150 watts to me seems like overkill and I didn't want to have 3 extra tubes to replace in the Trident.

So the crunch on the Trident is pretty solid? Is it as heavy as the rectifier? Is it tighter?

I played one before @ GC but I barely could turn it before one dude said it was too loud and bitched.

I usually play for around 100+ depends what band we're opening up for.

Thanks for the responses so far.

Rectifier and Stilettos are completely different tones. You get the Trident (maybe even the Deuce) and you may have club owners telling you that your too loud. Get things away from the Main floor in GC or where ever and ask if you can set it up somewhere where you can crank itl.

I listened to some of the clips on your myspace. What were you using there?

If you are looking for a high gain marshall sound, get the stiletto, if you are looking for the rectifier tone get a recto.

Now as to your buddies trident, is it a version 1 or 2?

I recorded two guitar parts (sometimes three) one with my 5150 and the other with the dude who recorded us mesa triple rec.
