Alright I have to admit something has been bothering me since I brought home the Bogner Ubershall cab.
Ive been using it along with my new Stiletto Deuce and I do like the sound.
The issue I have is, I keep wondering what my Stiletto would sound like hooked up to a Stiletto 4x12 cab. I cant say exactly why this bothers me, maybe because ive never tried one or maybe because they seem to be meant for each other.

Can anyone give me their honost opinion about the sound from a stiletto cab. I have played a rectifier 4x12cab before, marshall1960a and of course the Bogner Ubershall.

Do you think other than the looks, that the stiletto 4x12 would be more fitting for my Deuce head?

Which do you think is a better cab,, the stiletto 4x12 slant or straight???

Or do you guys think that getting rid of the Bogner Ubershall would be ridiculous????

Any thoughts? Thanks for helping the confused.

Dude, the Bogner Uberkab is one of the best cabinets on the market. I would imagine the Stiletto cabinet would be tighter than the Bogner by a little though. I say try the Stiletto cabinet and see if it is something you would like, but definitely sleep on it. The Stiletto is a great amp and will sound great through a lot of cabinets, just make sure to test everything before you make the decision.

I went through a Recto 4X12, a Stilletto 4x12(still have) and also have a Bogner oversized 2X12. With the Ace in my opinion, the Bogner kills, it added more low end and helped with the brightness. There's somethin special about Bogner cabs, they just have a great feel. Only way to tell is try out a Stilletto cab with your amp/axe. Don't get me wrong the Stilletto 4X12 is awesome and I like it, I needed more low end though.

what are the different traits between slant or straight cabs?
I really havent used enough of them to actually know any difference.
Is one better suited for a tone or such?
The only difference I can tell is simply the appearance of the two.

i say it depends what your looking for....

for tight low end and crisp mids and highs you should go for a shallower cab...... they don't sound as big as the deeper cabs or maybe i should say bassy... but they hold the sound together much better...... so on that front you have to decide what you want to achieve... tight or big/bassy... if its tight go shallow cab, big/bassy deeper cab

once thats out of the way you need to decide on speakers.... this is where it gets tricky.....if your looking for that old marshall vibe with tons of breakup and tons of mids go with the g12t-75s.... if your looking for something a little tighter still with some breakup go with the v30s... actually i believe bogner makes a cab with that mix up speakers in an x pattern... not sure if its the ubercab of not..... now with speakers there are so many **** options..... i prefer eminence to celestion because they just sound better to me...... i have a basson 2x12 with eminence legends and its super tight ... great for high gain distortion.... not as great for cleans or leads.... thats why i'm looking for another 2x12 to go with it.... you may even want to consider a freda cab....they are 2x12 vented cabs that deliver the same punch and volume as a 4x12 but you get more of the tonal spectrum coming through the vent..... they sound incredible and they're very light....www.fredacabs.com...... its worth checking out... they have some pretty good clips on their site.... but there is nothing like playing one.... you just get the fullest tightest sound i've ever heard....

hope i didnt confuse you.... good luck

When Mesa designs an amp they usually test and EQ them and write the manual based on a certain cab design. With the Stiletto they obviously took the original rectifier "traditional" cab design and tested it with that. They then renamed the cab the "Stiletto" cab.

Where possible I always try to find and test drive Mesa amps with the cabs they were designed with.

Cabs are always a matter of personal choice and finding what works for you. What sucks is, what sounds good in the store, never really sounds quite the same once you get it home and have the time to crank it and break it in.

Good luck Robie!

Out of the Mesa cabs, the Stiletto cab is by far the best IMO. I have yet to personally play a Bogner cab, but most that own them praise them as one of the best on the market.

I would try to test a stiletto cab before purchasing. If you buy one new, you will take a big hit on it.

Another option would be to buy one used....keep both cabs for a while to see which you like better, then sell off the other. This way, if you end up still preffering the Bogner, you will lose nearly nothing.

In general, the traditional will probably give a little more crunch and punch, as it is a smaller cab, loaded fully with Vintage 30's. Definitely tighter overall. The Bogner cab will give you more lows, but more than likely sacrifice some of that tightness.

Orange 4x12s and Bogner 4x12s are my fav cabs... I also have a 4x12 mesa oversized, which is okay, but I havent played a stiletto cab.

As for slant or straight, I prefer straight because in the studio it is easier to mic.

you already have a high dollar cab. in my opinion the combo of vintage 30`s and g 12t75`s is awesome. put them in a nicely built cab and your done.

The stiletto is the original traditional boogie 4x12. perfect for the deuce, perfect!

They Line the back of the Uber cab with poly fill, this will make the cab more boomy and cut the highs. I am not sure if they do this with all bogner cabs, but that could be why you experienced smoothed highs with a bogner cab and deeper bass.

Personally not sure why you needed more low end unless you are doing alot of playing at home by yourself. If you have to much bottem end you just start stepping on your bass players tone range.

If you have a great bass player that knows how to EQ you shouldnt feel the need to venture down into his tone range.

Actually to corrent you statement, the G12T-75's have a relaxed mid, where the V30's have a more pronounced mid section. This is one of the reason Mesa teamed up the V30's with the recto amps, it helps make up for the missing upper mid's in the recto line.

This is also why Marshall pushes the 75's with there amps, because they have such a huge mid spike with there amps, that the 75's tame them a little.

And yes it is the uber cab that has the mix of V30's and 75's in a X pattern, unless the amp was ordered different, or speakers were replaced.

I love the Uber, but I thought it sounded far better with the Rectos than the Stiletto. El-34s and V30s just go together like chocolate and peanut butter. I always loved those speakers with Marshalls, and that is the vibe the Stiletto is going for. You do have to watch the presence knob with the Stiletto cab, though, because the upper mids can get very sharp in a hurry.

And I am just the opposite, the stiletto already has alot of upper mid's, i dont really want to put it through a speaker with alot of upper mid's. I much prefer the celestoin 75's for my stiletto.
