Can a Mark3 combo be converted to a rack?Has it been done before? :)

As long as it is a 17" chassis, it can be mounted into a rackmount adapter. I have done the same with my IIc. I scored the kit with fan for $50 on eBay, they are usually around $75.

Thanks.A friend of mine want to sell his Mark3 combo.I have to check it out first. When u rack yr 2C,wat happen to the power section? This kinda confused me.. :?

The whole amp chassis goes into the rack, which is 4 units high. Just remember .......

Not sure what happens to the reverb tank though. I have one myself, but I've not used it so far.

I don´t undestand why want you get your mark III into a rack. The mark III combo is one of the more beatifuls things that I had ever seen. Go to sleep for a day and then think again about rack the mark III

Spam Alert!!!

Well... If you do decide to rack it I have a rack adapter that I used with my MarkIII for sale in the Classifieds area:

If you have a deep enough rack, I'm sure you could just strap it down back there. Or even better, put it in a spare rack space below the head. I don't use reverb on guitar sounds, so it didn't affect me too much.

Cause i dont want to carry around the combo for rehearsal/gig.Juz strip the thing and load in the rack case.
A word of warning – think carefully about this approach, I went down that very route albeit in a roundabout way. My combo in its flight case was too cumbersome to take to the rehearsal studio. So ‘rack’ was going to be to the solution. I had a spare 1x12” cabinet, so I bought a 20/20 power amp and later a Triaxis (I won’t go into the detail how for several weeks I was using the combo’s preamp to feed the 20/20). The Triaxis is midi, so I needed a midi pedal board as well. The amount of equipment I had to take was growing, then came the day I forgot something (studio was over an hour away from home) . I also looked at just ‘racking’ the amp and although I bought the kit, I’ve never used it.
I’m now back to the combo in its flight case, and in the combo I have the footswitch, its lead and a guitar cable. To rehearse I just take a guitar, the combo and some beer. :D

I sitting here LMAO off because I think that sooooo many of us do that when we get the GAS...

I ended up just buying a rig for each space. I leave the Triaxis rig at the Fusion band rehearsal space and use it for all of my gigs , I leave one of my Mark III's at church where I play every Sunday, and I have my other Mark III in a Gator rolling case to take to the Rock band rehearsals, assorted jams and as a backup to the Triaxis rig at gigs.

Each rig is complete, meaning everything I would need (cables, footswitches, etc...) stays with the rig.

I also figured that some day when I'm to old to carry this stuff around I can just give it to my boys...

I have always had my MkIII in a rack (I bought it that way back in the '80's). I don't regret it, though I just recently reduced the amount of crap in the rack to reduce back stress.

It is nice simple setup right now. The MkIII, a Rockman Stereo Chorus/Delay (single space 1/2 rack unit in a single space rack shelf) and a Peavey Valverb.

It all fits nicely in one of those plastic SKB 6 space racks and is light enough to not be a back nuisance.

It's not as pretty as a nice combo, but I still like it better having the speaker as a seperate item to keep the weight of each item down.
