I have a '97 Tremoverb and I seem to recall that you can run a TOV at 50 watts by removing one of the rectifier tubes and two of the power tubes. I can't remember though which rectifier tube goes with which power tubes to do this. Does anyone know? Thanks for the help.

The rectifier tubes aren't assigned to a certain pair of power tubes. Being wired in parallel, they share the load. You don't even have to remove one if you're using the diodes, or if you want a stiffer tone. Mesa recommends removing one to keep the same amount of sag as all 4 power tubes would have when using the tube rectifier.

Also, when removing power tubes, just make sure you remove either the innermost pair, or the outermost pair, and not the 2 to the left or right, and plug your cab into the output jack that is half of the cab's impedance to keep the same frequency response. If you have an 8 ohm cab, then use the 4 ohm jack.

To keep the correct impedance match you should also run the speakers/cab from the jack for half its impedance (eg use the 4-ohm jack for an 8-ohm load). It won't really harm anything if you don't do this, although it will shorten the tube life a bit if you're really cranking it. It will also change the tone, so if you want the exact same tone but at half the power you should do so.

Ther is not a very noticable difference in volume by removing 2 tubes. You can get the same result by cutting your load down, like going from the 4 ohm out to a set of speakers wired for 8.
