I cannot stress enough how important it is to read the manual with this amp. Last night I decided to sit down with my Les Paul and go throught manual, voice by voice, channel by channel.

In that one sitting I was able to perfect my settings in FAT and I re-discovered EDGE. EDGE was so good that it's competition for CRUNCH for sure. Knowing that there is now 2 option in the second channel is sweet. I'm still not the biggest fan of Mark 1 but I didn't even get there last night. Who knows what will happen tonight.

Just thought I'd share, this amp is literally a dream come true for me.

I honestly thought Edge sounded like crap no matter how it was tweaked. Crunch was the only mode on the amp that suprised me in a good way. Channel 3 really let me down.

But I'm glad it's working out for you. Make some clips.

I was ready to sell the damned thing after two days. Now, it sleeps in my bed with me, and I tell it bedtime stories. The cleans blow all of my friends' Fender amps away, and channel 3 just instantly murders all baby kittens within 5 miles. I am finally getting a chance to mess with channel 2, and it is just all around very solid! Especially when cranking treble and presence in Mark I mode. I was worried about low end for a while on channel 3, but experimented with keeping preamp bass low, and boosting it very high on the EQ, and at my gig friday, the bass slammed you in the chest, and stopped on a dime.

Life is a balance for me. I am poor, ugly and stupid, but have an awesome amp!

Dig! Take my doritoes, snickers, & cable tv...as long as I,ve got my Mark 5, I,m still good!

HA! I hear ya man...You just gotta LOVE IT!

I love the Mark I mode with the thick switch activated. Hell, it hardly sound like a regular Mark I, it's way more agro than a regular Mark I...

Man, I love the Mark I mode (when it's properly dialed in)...I'm finding much love for Crunch and Edge too...don't know why people had so much hate for the second channel...it's bad-a$$ in it's own rite.

The Mark I mode alone is the main reason why I am keeping the V along with the IV. IMO I think it's the best in the amp. Great tone.

I have a feeling people are going to keep discovering / falling in love with different modes in this amp as time goes on. About the only mode I havn't fallen completely in love with at one time or another yet is EDGE. I blame myself though, for not having the music appropriate for it's voice.

Spent some time with Ch.2 Crunch yesterday -- wow. Great more midrangey/trebley heavy tones that rival my Ch.3 IIC+ settings -- this amp just keeps on giving.

Tweed is the only one I don't like/have no use for.

If you ever decide to try your hand at playing the blues you'll love it. You can also run it as an alternate EDGE channel that's brighter (but less gain) if you're interested in having breakup in all 3 channels.

Channel 1 Tweed is the coolest surprise of the amp. I had no expectation for it, but it has become one of the voicing I use the most in my cover band.

I tried it with a Barber tone press and and TS9 Keeley in front and I got one of the sweetest Gilmourish lead tone I ever had.
With a good delay in the loop, the tone is really creamy "a la" Pink Floyd. I love it!

I really like the tweed in fat mode. It is close to the edge mode, which was my favorite mode in 2. Its a toss up between crunch and edge, but tweed is so close and really punchy. If I use tweed the way I have it set up I have no true clean. Has any one found a good clean sound in channel 2 ? I would like to use 1 as the in between channel and use channel 3 as the high gain tone (obviously). I have been fiddeling around but havn't found an icy clean on 2 yet. I'm sure its in there. Looking for a un distorted very clean almost acoustic sound to switch between on the high gain channel for Metallica, Dream theatre etc. There is so much in this amp it's unreal. O and so far the LP custom w factory pups is the best I've heard through it. It just rip through and sounds huge. JPMM6 second. Peavey HP 3rd.
