Haha, I was looking at those at thought, "oh yeah, that's right" 
A large part of my guitar sound comes from the way I actually play guitar. I have more of my palm on the bridge of the guitar than most people do, so I get a lot of chunk but don't have to use a lot of boomy low end to get it. I end up getting a much more definied sound that way. That's the main reason I swear by using an overdrive these days. I turn the amp's gain down to 3 and then use the OD in front of it. It sounds amazing.
