Combo speaker vs. cabinet (closed back)

Why does my combo speaker sound like total **** compared to plugging directly into my recto 2x12 or 4x12?

Probably it's 'cause you've a C90 in your combo and the 2x12 and 4x12 have V30's. Usually I prefer the v30's, sounds warmer and fuller to me... How ****** does sound your combo speaker? I mean: "crappy ******" or "something's broken ******"?

The combo is a small open back cab with a single speaker while the 2x12/4x12 is a big closed back cab with multiple speakers.

But I'm sure you already figured that part out.
