checking the rectifier tube

I believe my recto tube is rattling. The amp makes a noise when turned on (fan off, nothing plugged in) it sounds like a tube being shaken. I've switched the powertubes, and tapped and that does nothing. I can't figure out how to check the preamp tubes, but it sounds like the recto tube might be it. How do i check this, and verify?

I had a rattling recto tube AND two power tubes when I first got my combo. My dealer changed them for free. It helped alot. I think preamp tubes will become microphonic before they actually rattle. I could be wrong. All this rattling was only happenning when I played.
