Channel cloning - huge increase in volume?

On my ToV, when I clone the orange channel to "modern", i get the most amazing distortion from the vintage high-gain section, but it is substantially louder and more gainy than the red channel, and when i take the cloning off and set it to normal, the volume goes way down on the orange channel.

is this normal? it doesn't really mention anytihng about it in the manual.

Yeah, that's normal. There's also a lot more fizz, which is why it seems more gainy.
