gonna change my power tubes in my dual recto and wonder a few things.

must it be matched tubes???
what happens if i switch to unmatched tubes???

what differences are there between thhose color code mesa tubes?

which of the colorcode should I have ?

Not meaning to be rude, but have you read the manual for your amp? If you have not done so and do not have a printed copy, you can get one from the Mesa website. Peace.

Just Kidding

Putting UN-matched pairs of tubes in your amp could cause noise and tone problems. Stick with the matched pairs. If you need 2 or 3 pairs and you want mesa tubes, buy the same color code.

The color code is used to rate tubes that fit in the bias range of mesa amps. Red and yellow should have an earlier distortion. Green and gray should have an average dist. Blue and white should have a later dist. Any color will work in your mesa with out bias adjustment.

So my theory on what color to buy is not so much what style you play but what volume you play at. Lower volumes would benefit from tubes that distort earlier and easier. Super crankin volumes would do with a Later distorting tube. But - I am not a tube expert.

If you are not sure, shoot for the middle
