Changing orders

I hope I get an answer...
I ordered a Road King combo in August. Cream Bronco, Wicker Grille. Hear a part is on backorder from manufacturer after it takes about 3 months, and then receive a Guitar Center RK in black, to compensate. I'm guessing now I'll be receiving a RK Series 2, as I heard on the phone with Mesa, in the next month. I suppose there's many others waiting. Will I be able to change from Cream Bronco to Wine Taurus w/ Wicker Grille without pissin' em off? If ordered through the Guitar Center, since it will be shipping to the GC in S.F., will it be more difficult to change an order? Just talk to a GC guy to change it?
