while i love my Lonestar Special 212 just the way it is- stock, i'm (as are most of you here) always looking for some way to bring it to the next level. i've been hearing a lot of really good things about celestion golds, but at $290 a pop- nearly $600 to put two into MY amp, I've gotta ask- do they actually sound two hundred dollars BETTER than a stock black shadow? i know this is subjective, but for that kind of $$, i expect my jaw to hit the floor at the difference in sound. hey, i could buy a lot of other cool stuff w/that kind of money. your experience w/this speaker?

I really liked my LSS when it was stock. But when I installed Celestion Gold's it made more difference than I would have imagined. Really impressed me.

When one of the speakers blew (due to an output tube failure I am told) I reinstalled the stock speakers and new tubes..and ended up selling the amp. I just couldn't go back to the stock speakers after hearing the heavenly sound the Gold's made in that amp. I would have kept the amp had I known Celestion would replace the blown speaker within 3 days of me shipping the amp to it's new owner.

I ended up buying a MarkIV...which btw sounds like crap with the Celestion Gold speakers for some reason.

If I ever get the energy to take some pics I will be selling the 2 Gold's I have on the classifieds here.

How did the output tubes on your 30w amp blow a 50w speaker?

I don't know about Golds, but I have an AC15 that came with a Blue and it sounds nice. It's not broken in fully but I like it with the AC15 and with the Mark III.
