Hi all!

A friend of mine has a 1998 Rectoverb head he converted to a head. I love the amp, it sounds amazing. He also converted the loop to a series loop. What I would like to know is when did they start making the Rectoverb as a head? I know a friend of mine who owns a studio has a 90s Rectoverb head and I love that too. What I would like to do is find a used 1990s Rectoverb head series I. I just find the series I have a better tone than the series II heads. Anyone else agree on this point? Are there supposed to be big tonal changes from series I to II? Is it hard to find series I heads?

There are some local guys selling Rectoverb heads that are series 2. Are those just as good sounding? My friend's series one is really fat and thick sounding!

Thanks guys!

as far as I know the only diff between series I and series II is that the reverb knob is on the face of the amp along with all the other dials. SOmeone told me series I reverb is on the back (any truth to this?)

don't know about series I, but mine has an independent reverb dial for each channel.

Well I know series II has slightly improved clean and an extra mode on the gain channels. It has Raw. For me the clean on the series I is amazing, every bit as good as the clean on my Reborn Dual Rectifier, and the Raw mode I can do without. I stay on Vintage mode all night or whatever it is called, LOL.

I am just curious if the gain is different on Series II, because the gain on the series I Rectoverb is a dream come true! I thought it blew away my friend's Mark V. I like it that much. However, I mostly see Series II heads for sale and before I buy on on Ebay I need to know if the gain character and feel has changed.
