Can I put only two EL34's in my Dual Rectifier ?

Quick question: I'm thinking about testing some EL34's. Before I spent money on 4 tubes, can I just buy two and run the amp on 50 Watts ? I own a DR2010, so it's switchable anyway ... If possible, is it the outer or inner pair ?

Oh, and when I change all power tubes, the color code doesn't matter, as long as all tubes are the same, right ?

Sure you can do that. Just run the amp in 50-watt mode and try which pair (inner/outer) works. It won't hurt the amp.

No idea about color codes, I do bias mods on my amps.
