Hi,
So i'm in the Mark League for a while. Almost bought another Mark IV but I thought I should have some change. So I saw a dual rec in the local ad for 1000 and almost went for it. Then I find most of you guys prefer the roadster. Can anyone explain what the main differences are besides the power section? Without pusing it with a OD, can the roadster produce a smooth lead tone? (I used to own a DR and a TR but I hated the lead tone out of those amps.)

Thank you guys for helping.

if you take a little to set up each chanel you will have 4 distinct tones
each is disigned differntly by mesa so its not hard
I set mine up for 1 and 2 clean and 3 and 4 I drive, that pretty much how Mesa disigned it
it is a great amp and does net comprimise anything like most multi chanel amps would in the past.
hope this helps

The Roadster has far superior cleans and a much smoother sounding high gain sounds than the Dual Rec IMO. Since channels 1 and 2 are the same circuitry as the Mesa Lonestar(best cleans ever IMO) and channels 3 and 4 are the two high gain channels from a Dual Rec it is essentially a marriage of two of Mesa's best sounding amps much like it's big brother the Road King. This amp pretty much covers just about any sound you want from pristine cleans to face melting gain and everywhere in between for $100 more than a new Dual Rec. The Roadster is the best sounding most versatile amp I've ever played.

I agree the roadster is blowing my mind with all the different options, never mind the vol. knob on the guitar!!! please
