Hey good Mesa folks!

I am in desperate need of some settings to make my Roadster modern channels (channel 3&4) to sound good. To me it sounds way too "bassy" no mather how little bass I dial in.

I play in a metal/hardcore/industrial kinda band, and I really need my distortion channel to sound brutal. I don't use any pedals except a wah wah and a stage tuner. I have a Roadster top and a rectifier 4x12slant cab. I use a Godin LG guitar with a Duncan Distortion pickup at bridge position(which is the only pickup I use while playing distorted)

Would it help to buy for example a dunlop eq pedal??

Any help, tips, tricks are greatly appreciated!! I would also very much like to know what excact settings you guys use on your modern channels.

Thanks in advance guys!!

That might give you an idea of what kind of sound I need.

i'll go ahead and tell you what others have said time and time again...and they say it because it works.

put an overdrive pedal in front of your preamp. zero the drive (or close to it) and turn the level up 75% - 100% and then use the tone however you want. it will tighten up the sound and the results will amaze you. i didn't think it would work until i tried it. it was night and day difference. you won't be using the OD for distortion, but you will tailor your preamp's distortion. the added tone before your preamp could help with the bass.

i'm not into metal so i can't really say what settings would be to your benefit, but i'm willing to bet that the OD pedal would be advantageous.

good luck!

OD pedal will definitely work. I run my drive at 0, level at 100% and tone somewhere near the middle. I also run a 10-band MXR EQ in the loop when I want to dial out the bass. To kill the bass, drop the first 3 faders all the way down. If you want some bass but not retarded amounts, kill the first one (guitars don't make 32hz sounds anyway, so may as well kill any that may be there), put the 2nd one half way or so, and put the third one just down a little bit. Tweak it to your liking of course... but this pedal works wonders for dialing out the bass but not affecting the rest of your tone...

The bass knob on the amp won't do this because all the EQ controls are interconnected, thus changing one will change the other so you can't really isolate a given frequency without tweaking all 3 knobs. EQ pedal is the way to go 8)

don't about the Eq.. just something like a ibanez ts-9 , maxon 808 or boss sd-1.. that green pedal would work fine i have never heard one but so i can't say how it would sound..
