Well, now that I have some free time to kill, I thought I'd get the ball rolling on my plans to convert my Mark III combo into a head and Thiele mini stack. I'm min the planning stages as of now. I modeled the Thiele on my computer so I can have exact measurements. Its a hybrid design that incorporates the Mesa exterior dimensions and the EV TL806 structure. However, I hit a snag on the headshell. I need some dimensions from another Mark III short chassis including the cutout for the reverb pan. I really don't want to eyeball that thing. Any help is appreciated. I'd like to finish the planning and start picking up materials tomorrow. Pics will follow.

The easiest thing to do is to pull out the chassis and measure it. I recently did the same thing for my LSC. I took some liberties in the measurements for the front and rear panels and had to remake them. You can make it whatever dimensions you like as long as it fits the chassis. I cut mine down as much as I could to save on weight. Had I opened it up and just measured the chassis first, I would have cut down on more weight. The only thing you need to take into consideration is letting air circulate so the tubes can release heat. My LSC has a large reverb tank so might need to account for that as well. I have pics of my project under "custom head" on the site in the Lonestar section. Good luck.

Thanks, but my goal was to make it look authentic. The only measurements I can pull from my combo is the angle of the front , and the width and depth from the top. I'd like the actual height width, and depth from the bottom of a headshell, as well as the dimensions for the reverb pan cutout on the bottom. Again, so it looks like it was bought from the factory like that. If anyone that frequently builds headshells would like to help me out on this, that would be greatly appreciated.
