Not so. The sound waves bouncing around in a closed back cabinet don't know which speaker they came from (#1, #2, # or #4), or even how many speakers are in the cabinet. The volume of the cabinet is what matters, not the volume per speaker.

The larger Mesa cabinets have more volume and hence lower resonant frequency = lower frequency bass thump.

The volume per speaker certainly DOES matter. The amount of force exerted by the compressing internal air is dependent upon the number of cones doing the compressing.

Yes, but the pressure per cone is the same. In any case, a 1x12 closed back does not sound the same as a 4x12 closed back, for the reasons I stated.
