Hi guys. Curious about your thoughts on this one. Ive got a triple recto solo head here, and cant decide on a cab! I do have a couple cabs(I will go into that a tad). Right now.....Im using a 2X12 avatar "traditional" cab with vintage 30's. Beleive it or not, this cab rocks hard for the price! Great upper mid bite, bass stays clear and tight.....and not too much on top so its smooth. Really really good hard rock tone out of this sucker!

The only prob is it doesnt quite "push" hard enough. I realize in the grand scheme of things that this isnt super important.....but at the same time, you all know what I mean when I say its nice to "feel" the music just as much as hearing it. What do you guys reccomend for a cab that has a vintage 30 type sound with a more pronounced, pushed sound? I wanna keep the tonal quality I have....just want it to push a little harder. Would a different style of cab with V30's do it.....or do you think different speakers all together?

Ive also got a Krank 4X12 cab with eminence texas heat drivers. This thing is outrageous. Built like a tank...almost as heavy, but the only thing I dont like about it is the fact that the texas heat speakers are just too clear. They are real high power handling speakers, and the cab sounds a little hifi for me. Crystal clear highs(high highs) and bass response like a bass cab. Almost sounds like a high wattage PA cab. Its an expensive and very durable cab....so Ive toyed with the idea of replacing the speakers, but I worry that the cab design itself may limit me. Thats why Im considering selling it and getting a second 2X12 with a little more "thwack" to complement my current 2X12.

Thanks for reading!

I came from a 4x12 (albeit a lower quality one) and now use a Bogner OS212 with Vintage 30's (with a 3 channel Dual Recto) and I haven't looked back.
It's almost as big and heavy as a 4x12. It's not the tightest cab around (oversized), but it sounds so thick and warm with a bit of vintage vibe to it that I just recommend it to anyone looking for a 2x12. Some people don't like it however (mostly they prefer the smaller 2x12's), so testing is really needed as it sounds miles different than for instance a Recto 4x12.

What are you using nowadays?

Yep, 3 channel Dual Recto.

I recorded some clips a few days ago as my first quick attempt at using a real mic (SM57). Just some double tracked/harmonized riffs (warning: after work-playing, which means low(ish) volume and sloppiness).

Sorry for OT.

Thanks for the input guys! I just started a new thread comparing a specific 2X12 cab to the typical V30 cab(didnt want to change the subject within this thread).

Thanks again!

This is the best/tightest cab around, blows the doors off my Mesa standard 4x12 by a long shot...
