Hi Guys,

Last night at my gig.

It was the last song, I can't believe it.

I have Triaxis and a Mesa Boogie Satellite 60 watt.

I heard a intermittent crackle or farting noise.

I turned around, I saw a bit of spark, The amp turned off.

Then there was some smoke. At this point I wanted to just go home.

Now it has been a while, is that a Power Tube burning out???

Or is this some thing more serious???

It blew the Fuse, which I hope protecting the amp.

What do you do now???

Gezza.

Ok Guys.

I took the amp apart. It is the same power as the Mk3, but has less button and knobs.

I had a good look around.

2 Resistors look burnt out, R110, R111.

That's all I can see.

Now to the next question why?????

Is this one of those things or do I have serious problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Gezza.

There is not schematic for the Sat or MK III power section that would tell us what R110 and R111 do. A picture would help.

Why, you ask, is the eternal question.
It could be a catastrophic tube failure that took out the bias supply resistors and caps, or the reverse.

Sounds like you blowed up a power tube, I have done the same thing a couple times, no big deal just part of the tube amp life! time to go to a amp tech and get it fixed BEFORE turning it back on. Good luck!

Just hope it's nothing like my DC-5 fiasco. Complete power transformer meltdown. Happened in May and I'm STILL waiting to get it back. The day before I got a whole retube set from Doug's Tubes.
