I'm looking for the metal solo sound, articulated, but distorted and with delays(petrucci,lukather..)
When playing live i use digital delay in the effect loop(for soloing mostly),and the amp is miked so it goes in mixer, and on to the 2 cabinets.
Not bad sounding, but the sound would be much cleaner/greater if the dc-5 would go dry,and the mixer sound would be with delays..But how could i do that?
Also,I noticed my dc-5 sounds much darker(duller) even if nothing is in the effect loop, but the effect loop pot is turned half way.The loop is parallel.
The amp is dc-5,combo 1x12.
Help?

The mixer is not that close to the guitar, and i would need to control the delay while playing..
But,it could be good solution,thanks!
HAVE ANYBODY TRYED THIS,LIVE?
In theory, the sound could be good, but I never tryed it....
Got gig in monday,is this worth trying??

Try modding in a serial fx loop since the parallel one doesn't do delays much justice, or get a vocal delay and put it in line with the mic. Just kidding about that last part though.

Thank you for advices!
Is there a better way of making this kind of tone?
Steve Morse is using one amp for pure tone, and another for all the effects..
Is this a good approach?

ok,i decided to try this on my next gig,and so i did..
it worked great!!
people loved the sound!
I did too!
There was a Marshall next to my Mesa, and I plugged my effect send cable(with the delay)into the return input of the Marshall.
Mesa was dry,and Marshall was only delay. They were both miked.
And the sound was woow!
I think i am very close to my favorite sound, now
Does anybody use this kind of set up?
Or similar?
