Best tubes to tighten up a 2 Channel Dual Rec?

In reply to Captain its R0049. Mine does have the bias switch and I have a set of winged c el34 lying around that I may get round to trying sometime. No idea about the pre amp tubes as in the two and a half years I've had it i've never had it opened up. It currently has the mesa str430 6l6s.

Haha no way, mine's R0050 and it's only a 100 miles away from R0049. Awesome.

Hi Botch. They must have come over at the same time. Mine is an all black with crome knobs blue light and no ground lift switch. I got it after reading about the early rectos on here about two and half years ago. Before that I had a three channel recto. I dont think the "pre 500" thing is too well known about over here.

Yeah, mine is also lacking the ground switch, it did come with a red light but I swapped it for a blue one. Mine is just the standard black with chrome treadplate, though I do wish it was black like yours. You're right, no one really knows about pre 500's over here but when they catch on we'll be in the money

PS, thanks to everyones input on this thread, I've decided on the Tung Sol EL34B's which I'll hopefully be getting sooner rather than later!

Winged =C= EL34s.

I'm using a Rev F Dual Rect through Orange 4x12s.

I never liked the Tung Sol EL34s. I found them to be a bit weird, but some people really like them. I sometimes wonder if I got a bum set as I can't imagine why anyone would like the sound they produce....

JJ E34Ls are nice if you want something that has the EL34 mid push, but retains more bottom end than your typical EL34. The trade off is that the bigger bottom end translates into not quite as tight a sound.

EHX EL34s are similar to the Winged =C=. They're not quite as good as the =C= (not as harmonically complex), but they're still good sounding and rock solid work horse tubes none-the-less.
