im just wondering what peoples opinions are for the best tube for the mkiv. i need to put some 6L6 in , ihave used various types in the past, jj i think are my favourites so was thinking of putting them in again, but iam open to suggestions from other users.
thanks :)

definitely groove tube 6l6 GE. Reissues of the old general electrics. They are made on the same machines and really bring out the best of the Mark4, aside from having NOS Str415's.

A few people around here believe JJ's suck a lot of the Mark4's tone.

415's will get you thousands of hours of happiness. 420's are nice and last a while. I haven't tried the GE but there are raving reviews here and many really like them. I want to try my NOS JAN Phillips 7581A's in my Mark IV. They keep my '94 DR very tight. I can only assume that they would be a great choice for a Mark IV also. JJ power tubes I have heard aren't the tone suckers that the preamp tubes can be.

JJ pre's killed the sound on my recto, but the KT77's sound great. I've since replaced my pre's with a different suggested combo.
