For a PRS user (as I am 8) ), if I were to recommend one pup..it would be the set of Dimarzio D-Activators (neck/bridge). Very well balanced, tight, and aggressive all the while still being able to sing very sweet and smooth for leads. Won't be disappointed.

I'd been looking at the tone zone as a possible bridge pup, but noticed it had a heavy bass/low mid response and wasn't sure if it would be great for driving a recto. What sort of styles do you play?

More aggressive styles...between jazz-fusion and metal. Perfect pups all around though.

Those bare knuckles sound pretty bitchen. And I like to be non trendy so maybe this is the way to go. The war pig sounds goodo utput is like 22k lol, and the pain killer sounds best too. I just might email them with my wants and see what they recommended. They only out of the UK tho? What's 99 euros in USd. I'm sure the site might say once I buy by haven't gone there yet.

Yeah just email Tim and tell him what your looking for. The painkiller I heard is really good. SUPER tight. I'm in Canada, the total for 2 humbuckers with covers and 4 connector wiring came to about $300. Took about 2 1/2 weeks for it to arrive. It was the SLOWEST 2 1/2 weeks ever!

Bare Knuckle Pickups are definitely gaining a rabid and devoted following. Whenever the topic of pickups comes up, we all flog the brand mercilessly.

I think the thing I REALLY like about these pups is how well calibrated the set is. I basically run the same EQ for my clean and crunch tones now and the pickup select does everything for changing the tones. I also like how well they clean up when you roll down the volume knob. It gives MANY possible tones out of the same guitar and amp.

this would probably be the main reson for me to get bareknuckles pickups. like everyone ive heard awesome things, the companys been around for a while but yeah i just cant justify the price when im gonna be putting them in an $900 SE. theyre a bit too trendy haha

For me I like JB. I've used it for years and always gotten some really great sounds out it no matter what amp I use. I've used Rio Grande BBQ, Motor City Afwayu, , Bryan Gunsher Hellabucker,Dimarzio Andy Timmons, 36th anniversary and other Duncan models and always come back to the JB. It may not have the clarity of some of others but none of the pickups I've had sounded better for both clean and dirty sounds. So, I gave up on my experiment and stuck with my trusty JB.

Ive made up my mind and im going to do a painkiller!
Woot! they said the warpig is nothing compared to what the painkiller will do.
Cant wait till ive got the cash to pull the trigger on one and will get some killer clips going.
Thanks fellas, i love this place.

AWWWW, too trendy =-p If good tone is a trend, I want on that bandwagon!! OWAIT, I already got ON it!

BAHA $900 geetar. Why don't you buy a piece of wood worthy of BKPs then? You'd be surprised what sort of tones a great axe can massage out of a Mesa. Man, I think Carvins would be great guitars to plunk new PUPs and electronics in. Everything I have heard about them suggests the instruments are well worth the extra attention.

lol ouch. i opted to spend my money on the new head at the start of the year. maybe one day i will be able to spend more than a couple of grand and get a 'nice piece of wood'. all the cost for 'made in usa' guitars is so pointless, they use the same mahogany at the prs factory in korea ad they do in the states. its super resonant and can be played nicely when not plugged in, i just think the electronics hold them back so thats where im putting my money. i honestly dont see the difference between an SE and a CE beside the maple cap for a bit more brightness, every other bit of hardware can be swapped out for aftermarket gear
