Hey guys - I checked out forum member Gonzo's album Trouble after hearing some of his stuff. I was really curious how his MK2b would compare to my 2C+. The MK1 and MKII amps I played in the past all lacked the gain I got used to having with with my 2C+ so I was really curious. I gotta say ---- wow! Just monster monster tone and drive on this album. There was so much punch to what he was playing I swear I felt the air moving around me as I listened. In contrast my original 2C+ (which is disassembled right now and ready to go back to boogie for a 34 year checkup) it has all the balls and depth that I'd associate with my boogie, with incredible transparency. I wouldn't say it was hurting for gain in any way shape or form. There's still maybe less saturation in the gain of a 2B, but for Gonzo's style of music you'd not miss it at all -- it's full on power punch rock guitar of the first order of awesome. I was so inspired by it I wrote a little album review. If you are a boogie fan and a rock guitar fan - it deserves a place on your rotation. Here's the link to my review. I couldn't recommend it more highly.
