OK... Read previous posts here and most seem to "poo poo" this notion since an amp (by definition) is not a HiFi circuit in order to benefit from this.

I guess what concerns me would be not taking advantage of Mesa's ingenious cascading circuitry. I agree that V1 - V3 offers no real benefit, but the very least, it would seem a balanced triode would really benefit the V4 A-B (splitter /driver)

Lengthy read, but good stuff I found.

Here's a chance to weigh in on whether you're running balanced or unbalanced triodes in your rig. Primarily the V4 tube.

From what I understand, most circuits aren't balanced, so balanced triodes are a bit pointless. That being said, I haven't read either of your articles yet.

The whole idea of "balanced" pre-amp tubes goes back to tube hi-fi days, and the driver, or phase inverter, was the one most important to balance.
The tolerances between the parts of guitar amps are many times greater than any hi-fi amp, so yes, it's nonsense.
Only Eric "I Know A Dying 9 Volt Battery When I Hear It" Johnson could tell.
