I recently picked up an 8ohm HotPlate to use as a dummy load on my D.R. I use the slave out on the amp and it works great. I tried using the HotPlate as it was designed, between the speaker out and the cab, but I'm getting a howling sort of feedback. Same thing when I set the H.P. to load and use it's line out. As I mentioned, it's an 8ohm HotPlate, and I'm using an 8ohm mesa cab.

Any ideas?

I'm not familiar with Hot Plates, but slave outs are to be used with another power amp! Were you still using one of the speaker outs with a load on it, while using the Hot Plate from the slave out?

I should have been more clear. I run the slave out to a solid state power amp. That works fine. It's when I run the HotPlate between the D.R.'s speaker out and the cab that I get the noise...
