I missed the the warm-yet-present present tone I was used to on my old rig (Fender Tonemaster, Avatar 2x12 closed back) so I put my trusty Hellatone 30 (Avatar's broken in G12H30) in a little open back 1x12 and ran the Mark V out of it. Instantly better but at only 30 watts maybe not a great solution.
I lucked out and found a used Austin Speaker Works KTS-70 (80 watts and modeled after the G12H30) on the Austin Craigslist.
It's not quite as warm as the Hellatone --- it's brand new afterall. But wow! it sounds fantastic! full but not harsh.
I really liked the MC-90 Black Shadow the clean channel but the KTS-70 made a big, big difference for me on channel 3 and especially on channel 3. the clarity is actually even better but the harshness and muddy mids are gone. great speaker!
