Hello There,

I'm currently slowly building a nice little rack setup.
So far i have a triaxis and 20/20 poweramp and a 4x12 standard mesa cab.
I'm looking into midi foot controlers and have decided on the rocktron midi-mate.
My question is, from reading the mesa boogie triaxis instruction manual -> http://www.mesaboogie.com/manuals/Triaxis.pdf
I'm under the impression you can run phantom power to the foot controler and don't require it to plug directly into AC power.

If this is the case, i was wanting to buy one from the USA(since it is a shitload cheaper than buying them from here in australia)...my question is, if i buy one and attempt to use phantom power as stated in the triaxis manual, can i just use a normal 240v AC adapter into the phantom power plug on the triaxis in turn to get power to the midimate via the midi-cable at all?
Does that make sense? Sorry if i'm unclear, just trying to figure it out fully myself haha.

I’ve read you posting a couple of times as at first I thought you were proposing to send 240V down the midi cable to the foot controller. I'm no expert but two things to bear in mind 1) can a midi cable take that voltage and 2) will there be issues for the signal path being that close to the mains supply.
However, I think I now understand your query. If your proposed foot controller can take low voltage power via a midi cable then there is no reason why you can’t use a 240V voltage adapter to send this phantom power via the triaxis.
240V adaptor -> Triaxis phantom power socket -> midi cable -> footcontroller.

hi mate

i think that's sort of what i meant...it's hard to explain
i guess, what i mean is something like this

the USA version of the rocktron midimate compared to the australian version of the midimate, do they run the same power?
like, does the floorboard have a power cable sort of hard wired into it so you'd need a step up transformer to use it in australia if you purchased it in the usa?

from reading the triaxis manual i understand that you can plug an AC adapter into the phantom power socket. then if you run a midi cable from the triaxis to the rocktron midimate, the midimate floorboard is powered by the phantom power coming from the triaxis.

if that is so, does that mean i can buy a cheap brand new midimate from the USA off ebay(because the price of them here in australia is very bad) and just run the midicable to it to get power from the triaxis the 'phantom power' way?

argh it is hard to explain what i mean...
