My buddy that owns a local guitar store was recently at a clinic where Morton and he were talking amps. And Morton "claimed" that he wish Mesa would give him his Mark IV's back, and that he can't stand his Mark V's.

Sounds like BS. Why would Mesa take the IV's back? He owned his own amps. He's stated in interviews that he owned about 8 of them.

In the back of my head I thought that also, maybe they just asked him to cease using them since they don't sell em anymore.... :?

He could have the Mark V on the cabinets out on stage and really be plugged into the Mak IV under the stage. Metallica has DR's on the stage at some of their shows and they use the triaxis under the stage.

just sounds a little off with LOG being such big mark IV fans, and being as big as they are, to NOT own any IV's. im sure the touring and merch allows them to buy a few amps.

Petrucci as started using it for the North American tour. I read 2 heads in stereo with a third one for backup. Different rumors about mods on the heads also...

He has confirmed that he used the Mark1 channel for few solos on Black Clouds & Silver Linings.

Yeah, I highly doubt Mesa "took" the Mark IV heads away from LOG, especially considering they bought some of them back before they were even endorsees.

And I can't imagine they would ask people not to use the Mark IV either. How long did Metallica, Petrucci, etc...continue using their IIC+ amps well after the III and IV were released? Sounds like BS all around to me. I coudl see Morton maybe saying he wished they wouldn't have discontinued the Mark IV possibly, but that's about it.

I've said all along...the V is a great amp..and certainly a great improvement overall from the IV. But if you live in channel 3, then you may (as do I) prefer the IV.

Not to keep the Morton discussion going but he does infact loath the Mark V... i know because my best friend is the one who recorded that video (he works for GW). Anyway i believe his comment was he wished they didnt take Mark IV away... not his Mark IVs away (which he still uses for all LoG stuff). I think his issue stems from being so used to one amp and its a pretty significant change in the Mark V so expecting the same amp but better would be plain unfair to the Mark V.

Ya, he's been playing the Mark IV since the mid 90's, I don't blame him for it. I got my first Mark IV in the summer of 2008, so when I heard about the features, I wasn't attached enough to the sound to have a hard time letting go if it. Luckily I love the Mark V way more.
