I have a 2x12 Roadster combo and can't seem to find the tone I know this thing is capable of. My old amp is a '64 Fender Concert 4x10 and all that has is bass, treble and volume so the roadster is fairly intimidating. So I'm looking for a good blues sound from ch 1&2 and metal from 3&4. Any suggestions

Dont be afraid to use the raw mode on channel 3 and 4 for good blues break-up- you need to be careful with the channel EQ, but there are great blue notes in there....

metal=prescence:12 oclock, bass 10-11 oclock, mid 11 oclock, gain 1 oclock, master 12 oclock, output vol:12 oclock, boost it with an overdrive in front of it . sounds metal and nice

You forgot Treble. And is that with "Vintage" or "Modern"?

treble: 1 oclock yeah it is in the modern setting.

hmmm i usually use channel 3
my guitar is ESP LTD EX-400 with 2 EMG81s
Here is my setting for channel 3
I use this channel for leads or not-so-heavy rhythms

-Vintage, 50 watts, spongy, tube tracking
presence-10 oclock
Bass-10 oclock
Mid-2 oclock
Treble-11 oclock
gain-12 oclock (or 1 oclock if want more sustain)
I use a boss sd-1 as a booster, volume full, drive "almost" none
tone 9 oclock, always on, except when I play clean or playing channel 4

Here is my setting for channel 4
I use it for heavy rhythms only
-modern, 100 watts, spongy, diode
presence-9 oclock
Bass-9 oclock
Mid-12 oclock
Treble-10 oclock
gain-12 oclock
When I play stuff like c drop or b drop,
the gain knob drops to around 11 oclock
i usually don't use sd-1 for this channel

I'm not sure if it's gonna work for everyone though
I HAVE to change my settings if I play another guitar (fender strat for example...)
I'm still looking for the tone I want hahaha
I might get an mxr 10 band eq and try something out but
so far, I don't have a huge problem
good luck!

I have the Kerry King MXR 10-Band EQ and it's great - definitely recommend it - or the regular MXR 10-Band. Do a search in the Effects forum. You will find a few posts on EQs.

thanks a lot man
I might actually get an mxr eq this weekend
too bad they can't be used with batteries
