Roadking Channel 4 Gain almosted maxed, master maxed. Output 3 or 4.

Mark IV channel 3 - Gain 1, Gain 2 and Master all about 8, Output about 3. The Mark IV has so much hiss. The Roadking is almost silent in comparison.

Before I start changing preamp tubes am I correct in thinking the hiss in both should be the same??

Thanks

brianf

Last time I tried to turn channel 4 up that loud, my amp shot down an airplane with one low E note.

(I don't know the answer to your hiss question)

 I was not playing in the house that loud!!! Just set it there to hear how much hiss the R.K. produces gained out. **** they are quiet amps!!!!

I haven't heard a Mark IV, but I've played other med to high gain amps and the entire Rectifier series line of amps is extremely quiet when compared to other amps. I would almost think that it's just the nature of the Mark IV to hiss more than the RK since it's a different gain structure.
